Any way to tone Riddick down?

Is there a way to play Riddick without the F words? It does not bother me
but I have kids and don't want them to hear it. I looked for some option in
sound but did not see anything for harsh language. Thanks.

No as its an adult title - best thing is headphones.

Yeah, I guess I'll either have to buy a headset or not play it when the kids
are around. When I bought the game I did see the Mature rating on it, which
is the same as HL2 and Doom3, but did not read the finer print that says
"Strong Language". I'll look for that on future purchases.

So what it's okay of they see the violence, but not hear the strong
language? 😛

It's cartoon violence. If it were more realistic then I might be more
concerned. One exception, I once played a demo of a game called "Postal".
It was not suitable for kids at all. It left me somewhat disturbed.

You're assuming he is letting them watch him play. They don't have to see
the violence, but they will hear the game from another room.

Sums up todays western society, kids can watch 10,000 murders on TV
while they grow up, but they aren't allowed to hear bad language or
see anyone naked.

As a parent, I have to draw the line somewhere. If I throws F bombs around
in front of them, it tells them it's perfectly fine to talk that way. I'm
thinking it does the same if I play a game that has it. My kids do hear it
in daily life. When they hear it they always look for my reaction. As
long as they know I don't condone it, that's the most important aspect they
watch. They respect my opinion and live by it. That's the way it should
be.

Agree 100% Also bad language is the type of thing that kids can easily
emulate. Walking around with a shotgun is a little more difficult, and a
bigger jump from reality.

My favourite comment about the Columbine kids comes from Chris Rock:

"The Trenchcoat Mafia?! .... 'No one would play with us,'
'We had no friends.' Hey, I saw the yearbook picture. It
was six of 'em! I didn't have six friends in high school. I
don't have six friends now! That's 3-on-3 with a half-court."

That's a pretty ignorant and dangerous opinion.

And from which position of authority on this matter do you speak?

Limiting context to a relatively peaceful western nation, you're saying that
running around with a shot gun is no bigger jump from reality than using
harsh language. How many kids/young people do you actually talk to in the
space of a week? How impressionable do you think they are? If you're
going to say that I'm ignorant on the matter then you better have some
bloody good evidence to back up your claim.

> and dangerous opinion.

Explain how. Give me one proven link between computer game violence and
violence in real life (the opinion of loony right wing media is not proof).
Saying that a Game like Riddick is likely to incite violence is not much
different than saying that Tom and Jerry would.

it´s a bit "nintendo" regarding the colours... but
i wouldn´t say it´s out of place within the context.

No, I just have a job and a life, and interact with people in both social
