Anybody ever make a mod combining Carry the Flag with Enha..

Please note, this is mainly for original UT. But also applies to the
sequels.

I like to play Carry the Flag over Capture the Flag (flag must be
manually returned to base). But I dispise the 7 points for cap, no
points for anything else but kills, scoring system. There are several
enhanced scoring system, but they, like Carry, are game types, rather
than mutators.

Has anyone combined the two?

Ideally, you would get points for grabbing the flag (maybe 3), for
carrying it into neutral territory (2 or 3), for carrying it into your
territory (1 or 2), and for capping (2 at most; this is the easiest
part).

There'd also be extra points for killing an enemy flag carrier,
protecting a flag carrier, defending the flag, and whatever else.

Imagine, Ralph and Chester invade the enemy base; Ralph grabs the
flag, but is killed. Chester picks up the flag, and flees the enemy
base. He's killed as he passes into his own territory, and Alfred
picks it up, bringing it back to base, but he's killed by a nuke.
Bob, who's been hiding in the spawn room up until now, grabs the
dropped flag and scores.

In regular CTF, Bob is the only one who gets points. (Everyone else
has been too busy running to even make a kill.) With my enhanced
scoring, only Alfred losses out on score, and Ralph and Chester get
the most points, which they deserve.

Ctf-Dotherightthing?

I *think* that's the mod I've played on some publics, notably Truff's.
Gives you points for grabs, assists, killing people aiming at your fc
etc. I suspect it's pretty configurable, but I've never set it up myself.

Yes, that's one of the mods I was referring to. But I think it's just
a scoring mod. The flag returns to base simply by being touched.
Carry the Flag is a mod where you have to run your flag back to base.
Makes the game more interesting. Actually, makes it easier to get the
enemy flag back after I've been killed. On the other hand, makes it
easier for them, too. Especially with "drop cap" (flag doesn't have
to be back at base to score) enabled.

I'll check it out again tomorrow.

SmartCtf is another one, mostly scoring afaik - used on some Truff
servers if you want to see it in use. (f1 gives caps, grabs, assists etc)

Indeed SmartCTf acrtually changes the way [people play the game...could
be better though, personally I think there should b e more points
awarded for covers

It certainly improves public teamplay. Had a game yesterday where
practically everyone on our team carried the flag before they got
killed, so everyone got 7 points when it was finally capped. :)

I recall the OP wanted to combine Carry The Flag with DoTheRightThing
(original message expired on my server.)

I don't know what UT version he's playing, but in the original UT Carry
is a game type and DoTheRightThing is a mutator, so you can easily use
both at once.
