Anybody know why my monitor turns off and on briefly when playing videos?

For example, I may click on a video on youtube or any other website, and just as the video is about to play, my monitor will go black for about 1 second then turn back on. There have been times where the monitor has flashed on and off repeatedly when playing a video.
I should note that this doesn't always happen, but when it does it is extremely annoying.

Which monitor do you have? I had the same issue, when I'd open a game that would use a resolution different to my native one it would cause that issue, an issue that would remain on videos and other programs. At that moment my solution was to relaunch the program that caused the issue and then it would stop.

Later I found out that my "error" was to install my monitor's color profile in Windows, once I uninstalled that I had no more the problem, so that's something to give a try.

Joshua, i don't know if this resolves the issue or if it even is the reason for your issue. Does your monitor have the function to turn off if there is inactivity? If there is try to disable it so its always on because there might be something wrong with the inactivity function for your monitor, i dont say that this is the cause of your problems but it might be. So i would recommend to try doing that and see if it helps. Keep me updated!

I've got a phillips LED monitor, and thanks I'll give that a try.

Thanks, I will definitely give that a try as it does have a turn off function that I've had problems with before.

Loose signal.

Just tighten things up then, if you LOSE signal that's different.

it could be the cable or the gpu so try to check both of them .
