hi guys, yes they are rare and expensive, but 8K is 33Mpix (7680x4320) compared to 4K 8Mpix (3840x2160)resolution... that's four times as much. Mee likeeee !

Anyone of you already using something like 65" 8K TV connected to computer ? I'd love to see any productivity apps on it - no games of course, I'm the desktop guy (datacenters, virtualization, business productivity stuff, no graphics, no Adobe, no movies, absolutely no games).

Thanks !

sure, I wrote they are rare and expensive, I saw 65" 8K Samsung for $3500 ... specs say Nvidia GTX1060 can do 7680x4320 with single DisplayPort 1.3 cable (60Hz, here comes the trick : YUV420), GTX1070 can do the same ; GTX1650 can do 7680x4320/120Hz full colors.

Yes there comes the problem, DisplayPort preferred on graphic cards ; HDMI connectivity on TVs. I didn't check HDMI2.0 / 2.1 situation on gfx, but there has to be some way how to get full 8K signal to TVs otherwise they don't have to exist. Honestly, for my usage I don't care about 30Hz too much - it's just blatant desktop, no games. Actually, I've been using Seiki 39" 4K 30Hz for about three years and strangely, I didn't die.

I know it's not price competitive with 4K resolutions and in the end, I'm most likely going to end up with building a 2x2 wall of 43" 4K monitors - that will be the same amount of pixels. But there is something to the 8K otherwise we all would be running 2x2 walls of 24" 1920x1080 :)

The only thing about 8k is manufacturers getting you to buy them.. how often did people upgrade TV's? not a whole lot, then HD came out and that was all the rage, and i can understand that considering how noticeable a difference it is, but thats the trick now, getting people to keep spending their money on TV upgrades, the next best thing, thats what it's all about having you lot waste your money.
