I have a Cloud 1 headset and just received a Cloud 2. And so far it has been worse. The cloud 1 was set up through the front panel audio jacks with the volume box attached. I have Windows 7 with Realtek HD Audio Manager on my MSI mobo.

Using counter strike as a test bed, the cloud 1 would give me surround sound if I set it to 5.1 surround sound in game. Front, back, left, right where all very distinguishable. Didn't do up or down well though.

Hooking up the Cloud 2 Realtek HD won't recognize it as an audio device and I can't figure out how to set it as one. Doing the sound test in Realtek wont play through the headset (cloud2 that is). To get sound from the Cloud 2 I had to use windows volume mixer, playback devices and set it to the headset.

Anyway long story short, the Cloud 2's are only playing stereo. In game a lot of things sound the same. Front and behind are exactly the same. So far the USB 7.1 button only seems to amplify the volume and without the red light on it sounds muffled.

Any ideas, any tricks to this?

I found it interesting that the Cloud 2 didn't have a manual or any software or anything along with it. Just a quick start guide that says plug it in and hit the button.

Maybe you got a bad pair. I love mine. Best headset for a hundred bucks I have ever seen. And super comfortable too.

See being an owner of the Cloud 1 headset with my review on that being 10/10, I strongly like these Qpad headsets. My only problem with my Cloud 2 is you pay $20 more for the sound card USB box thing and it does not seem to be doing its job effectively.

Furthermore, hyperX manual is useless. And tech support didn't give me any information. I asked if it could potentially have issues with Win 7, MSI motherboard or realtek audio, etc. And the answer was I have an RMA number for you. Which doesn't really give me any information.

I could probably run it to the headphone jack like my Cloud 1 but why did I pay an extra $20 is my issue.

Because you and I are suckers. Headsets can't really give you a 7.1 surround anyways. Just a virtual 7.1

I understand this but the synthetic software 7.1 is good enough for my liking. Which is part of what my the original cloud 1's, so good. All in all, im not upset with the headset. Yes an extra $20 for a box that isn't working however thats 20 bucks. No big deal if you have a job.

I'm honestly just shocked HyperX just says plug it in and that is all there is too it. No service bulletins on compatibility with Windows 7, motherboards, Audio Drivers/software. Etc.

I'm going to do some more testing and see if I can figure this one out.
