I'm thinking of buying an old mobo for my old PC to upgrade it. The thing is, there are so many intel chipsets. I see ones like P43, P45, or G41. Anyone have any quick info? Any site reference?

Thanks.

Well, I have searched around and am thinking of getting a P43 board

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/P43C-ME/

- Supports FSB1600/1333/1066/800 MHz
- 2 x DDR3 DIMM slots
- Supports DDR3 1600(OC)/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 8GB**
- 2 x DDR2 DIMM slots
- Supports DDR2 1200(OC)/1066/800/667 non-ECC, un-buffered memory

Sure the P45 might be better for OCing, but those boards seem to just have better PCIe slots rather than OC capabilities. In the info, it doesnt say the RAM OC's up to 1200.

So can the RAM actually go higher than 1200 in the above description? Or are they just assuming that?

Yikes, the price of ddr2 RAM is so high. Why are legacy parts expensive?
