Hi guys, it's no secret that GPUs are in high demand. What would you recommend I pick up to get a decent 60 frames at 1440p for a friend's custom build.
Should I go secondhand and get something older? Is there any new cards that are available now that would also be good? heeeelp.

I am on a budget though

Thanks!

Im afraid there's no good news on the GPU front.
Used market is ALL scalpers and bots.
If you are near a Micro Center... you might get lucky in person.

Honestly, 3070/2070/2070s/2080 seem like the best choices. 3070 if you can get it. If you’re near a micro center, they hold gpus separately for people building a whole pc.

Could work. I got a 3080 Ti at a Micro Center in Texas, they said exactly that, and they had 3070’s in stock.

Honestly even Microcenter sucks now. I saw online that my local MC had some cards in stock.

Went by and 930 for an XFX 6700xt challenger and 2300 for a 6900xt toxic.

I hate everything about this

So true. I had the same prices: $2200 for a 6900XT. Ironically, I saw a Zotac 3080 Ti in stock, but they only had an ASUS and EVGA 3080 Ti in stock. Even more crazy, the ASUS 3080 Ti (Strix) was $2,000! Like I know it’s the best card but for 200 more, I could get the MSI Gaming X Trio 3090, a flagship and genuinely decent card. Like I guess it’s not their fault. I’m not mad about the fact that it’s higher priced, but the actual price it was at. I got the EVGA 3080 Ti for 1400, which is what was foretold by leaks. They had the ASUS and EVGA 3080 Ti (or the ones which were in stock out of all the 3080 Ti’s.) saved specifically for people that were building a whole pc. Hence, me buying all the parts there.

Yeah, I would do the same. I also have a 1070, and practically, the better option would be to upgrade to a better monitor, cause I can easily get 160 Hz on 1080p. But then there’s the fact that I have a prebuilt and I would anyways need to build a fresh new one, so I think I’ll use the prebuilt as a second pc to get the full use.
