StarFury is the real-time trading/exploration/piracy sequel to
Malfador Machinations' Space Empires series of 4X games.
It is published online by Shrapnel. Here are the URLs:

I played the demo briefly to get a taste of what the game
was like, but then I had to get back to work. I never had
the time to get the full game.

Your best bet for information is probably the Shrapnel
Games forum -

I gave the game a try, because it looked like a single-player version of
EVE Online (which I was in the beta test for, and loved it, but did not get
a subscription for becaue I just don't have the spare time to play a MMO
game "properly" at the moment), but I quickly turned off by it's clumsy
interface and especially by the 2-dimensional "space".

I tried the demo, I got pretty addicted for a bit... What is the full
version like, does it add many ship classes, does space become more
alive? What about that news network that wasn't working in the demo?

It strikes me that if this catches on, it will most likely be a great
platform for modders. Definitely Malfador will need to continue to
build on the experience to make it worth the money.

I would have bought the full version, if the website offered digital
delivery (a'la digital river or something similar).

The forums at the product site is best. Small games tend to have developers
who are focused forward. Asking them to backup and think like a newbie to
write docs usually fails horribly. But other newbies have filled the gap on
the forum.

Did you like the "me pilot" feel of that game? Im more a strategy game
player myself and really liked the other game by the same people "Space
Empires IV" which is more "we" than "I". I also liked their "Dungeon
Odyssey".

StarFury seems great but might be alittle new. I see a doc about modding
but I dont see any user sites or downloadable adds yet? Of course it would
be an excellent game to get into if your into modding so you can make a
name for yourself fast :)
