Anyone used a GT 730 2GB DDR5?

I was just wondering if anyone has ever used a GT 730 2GB DDR5 GPU? I got one recently because they were cheap and actually play games quite well but it's SO LOUD, I mean it's almost like there is a jet engine in my room

when i was going to buy my gpu for my current cheap build, i considered that and a r7 250 ddr3, the performace form what i could read was almost identical on most circumstances

i decided in favor of amd so i am using the r7 atm, i can hear it but barely

the thing runs cold at 720p and 768p, har to make it reach 50°c

mine has a big fan, and i set the fan curve to be gentle with my ears and that worked

perhaps you could install msi afterburner to set a fan curve?

your gpu is single slot or dualslot? how thick it is?

perhaps you got the slow gt 730? there is 3, but iirc only 2 have ddr5, only the cheap one has ddr3 and it runs 100% all of the time, so gets hot and has to make the fan spin 100% speed all the time?

I know it's fan is at 100% all the time which is why it's so loud, and sadly you can't turn the fan speed down

You should have chosen a model with larger fan - like this one:

Larger fan can rotate slower and still achieve the same or higher airflow.

I may consider replacing my current graphics card for that one then. Do you know if that graphics card runs at 100% constantly like my current one does though?

that is a low profile low speed low performance gt730 that should perform like a gt210, horrible, that is why you have a diminute fan doing noise all the time, you are asking too much form it

this is a gpu made not for more than watching movies, with headphones

this one exists also without the fan, if you bought it, if you can return it, i would do that

the fan can't be controlled because surely is not a pwm fan, so it just spins, controlled by the gpu but gpu temp sensor, not a module you can control

if you can change it, change it for that same gt 730 but the one with fast gpu, fast ram bus and a real heatsink and a fan, or get a cheap r7 250, what i have atm, a big fan and big heatsink does make a difference

Well to tell the truth, the noise isn't a massive problem considering my computer has always been quite loud. I've got a stock CPU cooler so it's quite loud so even if I replaced the GPU, my computer would still be loud though I don't think it would be as loud as it is currently since I actually think my GPU is louder then my stock CPU fan. Also do you know if my GPU's fan is actually on 100% constantly or does it increase in speed the hotter my GPU gets?

It shouldn't run at 100%. But this largely depends on airflow inside pc case.
If airflow is weak/obstructed, then fan has to rotate faster to compensate.

That is not the low performing gt 730. There is only 1 version that offers gddr5 and is the best 730 offered, 64 bit is kepler, although 2gb is rather useless vs 1 with such a weak gpu. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-730/specifications

If you look at the pic, his gpu fan is only 2 pins. This still can be controlled by voltage. Pwm is not the only way to control speed. I had a 6750 with that same asus cooler design and it is quite loud at full speed which it would go to while play games. But when lower, it is quiet. Just because it's low profile doesn't mean it'll be loud 100% of the time. These are low tdp gpus so won't create much heat even under load. I have another low profile gpu and this isn't loud under load. You can't tell by looking at it if it's a high rpm loud fan. I've got full sized gpus with louder jet engine fans that will get louder than games if I don't turn the volume up.

Are you referring to my current GPU? and the thing is my GPU's fan is at 100% constantly which is why I imagine it's so loud. It's so loud I can actually hear it on the lower floor, I mean it's very faint but I can still hear it.

My GPU actually came with some software called ASUS GPU tweak

I installed it and looked to see if I could lower the fan speed but sadly I'm unable too.
