Can anyone with this motherboard tell me what port they use to plug in their headset and microphone? I dont know why but on discord everyone is saying I sound like a robot. I fixed it before by plugging it into another usb port on the back of the board but i forgot which one it was now im stuck with bad microphone quality.

Solution

I figured it out. If anyone having this problem, go to your sound settings, click on recording, right-click the headset you are using and go to properties. In the advanced tab, I had my default format to 8000hz(telephone quality), and when I changed it to 48000hz (DVD quality), everyone was able to hear me crystal clear.

in discord? it didn't help. Im using the option 'test mic' and i cant still hear the bad quality of my mic.

I don't think my motherboard has any 2.0 ports? What should I do?

Im looking at the motherboard manual right now and I don't see it saying it has any usb 2.0 ports. I know the case has 3.0 ports but if i plug the headset there the microphone sounds terrible. The only way to fix this is if I use the top two 3.0 headers on the back of the motherboard but sometimes they don't work either like when i restart the computer or it just slowly reverts back to the bad quality and i have to plug it back in everytime which is annoying.

go to the asus website and lookup the specs for your motherboard. it will give a breakdown of how many usb ports any types it has. you can physically check the back of your pc to see what colour the ports are

usb 3.0 are colored blue and 3.1 are red.

your right. My mother board does have 2.0 ports. However, they still don't work
Both the 3.0s and 2.0s. I dont understand why. My microphone just sounds terrible. Maybe if I use the jacks instead of the usb ports that will fix the solution. I wouldnt know though since I dont have an adapter or a headset with a jack.
