Hi.

I hope someone can help please.

My ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E, (as I read they do,) the RGB stays on even when I shutdown the PC.
The only LEDs in the PC, are the one on the MB, which stays on.
And the one on the GPU, which does shut down on PC off.

I read that Armor Crate can be both troublesome, and a bloat on the PC/mb, having never used it, I don't know.
And as LED configuration is not really a big thing to me, not sure I would need Armor Crate?

I also read that the MB RGB could be shut off, when the PC is off, in the bios by enabling ERP, but I cant find any ERP option in the bios.
I found something about "stealth" and a couple more options, but rather than mess around, and potentially mess things up.
I thought Id would ask, the experts on here.

I hope someone can explain how I shut off the MB RGB when I power down the PC, without having to flip the switch on the PSU.

Thank you for any help.

You can try "Disable USB Charge when PC off" whatever setting that maybe in your Bios.
Other than that just unplug the MB LEDs permanently...
Less is more, you'll never beat the bling guy with all the glassware, bells & whistles.
But is that the true purpose of your PC ?

there is an option in the BIOS to choose how the LEDs operate when the system is off, standby, etc.
in earlier versions it was a drop down menu along the top of the main page.

if you can't read the manual and find the information contact ASUS support and/or ask on their support forums.
there will be many users with the same or similar boards participating.

motherboard LEDs are built into the board itself.

you want someone to break the surface of their board and dig the lights out
because you have a problem with RGB lights or something?
In my case I wouldn't buy the board, but if I happened to have one gifted, yeah snip the LEDs out with pliers. Presuming the LEDs are attached to the case not embedded in the board itself.

Refer to page 73 of the BIOS manual

Where it states:

When system is in sleep, hibernate or soft off states
Allows you to turn the RGB LED lighting on or off when the system is in the sleep, hibernate
or soft off states.

[Stealth Mode] All LEDs will be disabled.

Thanks JohnBonhamsGhost dwd999 Cyberat_88

Well, I managed to through trial and error look into the "Aura" Or whatever its called, settings.
There were 4 options.
Aura on
Aura off
Stealth
And another one I cant rem.

I tried them all, and yes dwd999 stealth turned them all off.

I then managed to find the ERP settings, that was tucked away like it was a secret. It had 2 choices, S4-S5 or just S5, I had no idea, so I put it on S4-S5

So I enabled "Aura all on" in that setting, and ERP to the first option S4-S5

And now it all works.. and all turns off when shut down, even the MB header RGB. ..YAY!

Thank you all.

I had uninstalled Armor Crate in Windows, but saw an option for the bios to install it, and it was set to on, so could Armor crate have installed itself.

Last question is Armor Crate safe, and usable?
Or should I keep it uninstalled, and turn off that "auto armour crate" in the bios.

Any help really appreciated.

I have one other question as I cant tell if my RAM with XMP is enabled, as its showing both 6400, <- the speed it should be, but also under DimRAM 4800? But will post that question with the photos on another thread.

Thanks again guys.
Likes all round. 👍🏻

Armoury Crate is handy for a few things.

updates a lot of minor options that have to do with ASUS boards and other proprietary hardware that you will not find on the support sites for download.
along with Aura Creator allows for custom LED patters, etc through all aRGB devices connected and supports 1000s of devices.
allows for some custom system control regarding over/underclocking, cooling, etc from within the OS.

i leave it installed so i can keep my system-wide aRGB LEDs at a custom minimal profile, control my AIO, and a few other things.

it adds ~30 processes using ~200MB of memory and ~0.3% of CPU at any given time.
