Hello everyone!
I've been trying to solve this problem for about a year or 2 from now, entered contact with game supports and Reddit Tech Support, to no results.
Here's my situation: I bought a PC for gaming about 4 years ago, I'll let all specifications at the end.
Around 2 years ago a glitch or something appeared on my PC. Out of nowhere anything classified as "game" would be unable to be launched. This includes games on Steam, outside of it, other launchers and even emulator. Everything else would be fine, as Media Players and Google Chrome. Only games would be blocked.
The processes still appeared on the task manager, albeit with near 0% CPU usage. In the case of games with launchers the launcher would normally appear, but the game itself not.
This glitch seems to be random after sometime leaving the PC turned on, with a higher chance of happening if I leave the PC unattended (while eating for example). So I can be playing somethin, close the game, click on another and boom, cant play anything at all anymore.
Also, the only solution that I've found to restore is to force restart my PC (so by pressing the button), because if I try to restart just clicking on Windows then Restart it won't actually go off. It keeps turned on forever refusing to really restart and I'm forced to press the actual button.
So far I've tried to exclude the games and all from AV verifications and such (I use Norton), but still happens.
Updating graphic card works for about 2 weeks, then it all happens again.
I also did my best to search for patterns about what I had done in the session before the glitch happens, session duration, programs used, but nothing seemed to repeat or be able to be detected outside of trying a game and getting kept out.
I also did tutorials for flushing DNS, clearing cache, deleting temporary files, searching for outdated drivers, no luck at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm losing my sanity with this issue.
