anything I need to know before installing crucial mx100 and cloning acronis 2014

I dont have the windows 8 software for this computer. I got it from newegg and it didnt come with software. I cloned the software that came on the original hard drive and moved it all over to my Rapture 10K rpm drive.

is this a problem? I hadnt thought of it till just now. i may buy a new windows os so I can just to a fresh install.

How big is the SSD, and how much used space on your current install?

the new ssd is a crucial mx100 256 gig ..the current install is about 100 gig out of 600 gig availible running windows 8.1 64bit

Then it should work. Usually, the issue is trying to squeeze 550GB of stuff in a 120GB SSD>

But I always recommend a fresh install. Easier and guaranteed to work.

if I do fresh install I will have to buy windows cause this computer came with it all pre-installed. its a hp but it was refurbed or something like that and then resold by new egg as unbranded.

Ive never not have an OS on cd before. im just going to use the raptor for files and music , I dont need that much space. the thing I was wondering about was the transfer of w8.1 to yet another drive
