My PC is close to 3 years old and it has:

Intel Core i5 3570 3.8ghz
ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M micro ATX motherboard
G Skill Ares DDR3-1600mhz (8GiB dual channel)
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X
Corsair HX650W
Samsung 840 EVO 120GiB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2TiB HDD 7200RPM

Probably most impact at this time would be the following, in this order:

1. GPU - something like a RX480 or GTX 1060would give you at least twice the performance. This would be the most beneficial upgrade by a pretty decent margin.

2. SSD - A second larger SSD would be a very nice drive for game installs.

3. RAM - If you are a multitasker a RAM upgrade would be help with the experience.

Well there was a unanimous decision on upgrading the GPU. But it's your PC I suppose you know best...which begs the question..Why bother asking the forums in the first place?

I just wanted to know what everyone else thought and suggestions on specific parts. RX 480 or equivalent video card is barely any upgrade at all in my opinion. Might wait for Titan X Pascal equivalent GPU to release at $200

In your opinion. Not good enough for the 5K monitor I want to utilize.

If your gpu is gaming fine then by all means wait. Although may be another 3 yrs before getting that performance at that price point.

I'd consider that doubling your gpu performance is a very good upgrade. Which is what a rx480 would do. Barely?
