https://pcpartpicker.com/list/88Fdhq. Is this build good? Is there anything that I should change/add? I will be gaming when I get out of school so I need something that will hold up. My budget is $950 (not including OS) I will be getting a 2TB storage later in the next month so I don't need a HDD right now. I'm also not going to be overclocking. Just wondering if there is anything that I should change/improve. Thx

I think you should try to stretch and get the 1600. For $20 you're getting 50% more performance. Also ryzen performance is more affected by RAM speed so you should look for 3200Mt/s or better.

I will politely disagree with the poster above. A Good 500W will handle that rig fine. NVIDIA recommend a 400W minimum and even at peak load with all peripherals included I wouldn't expect you to pull more than 400W, especially being as it's a non-overclockable CPU.

Also a 250GB SSD will fill up INCREDIBLY quickly with modern games. But I notice you said you'd get storage later.

Next to that, depending on how far you want to take it, bumping up to 16GB RAM may prove useful with some newer titles. But 8GB will still satisfy many applications. Also your motherboard can take up to 2400MHz RAM, and sometimes you can pick it up for the same price as 2133.

Have you considered a Ryzen build?

Why should I get ryzen? (I'm not saying I don't like ryzen just asking what the difference is between them)

I have not considered a Ryzen build

For example, a Ryzen 5 1600 is only slightly more expensive and you get the same core clock speed but in 6 cores and 12 threads, instead of the 6500 4 cores and 4 threads.

In effect you'll get much better (overall) performance for a very minor price increase (in the UK it is at least). You'll have signficantly increased multi core application speeds and likely better FPS in games etc. Also significantly better streaming capabilities in comparison to the 6500.
It will likely also be more viable for future gaming applications as newer games begin to utilise multi core processes more effectively.

The Ryzen is also overclockable if you so wish.

1600 has 2 more cores.
R 1500X = 4 cores
R 1600 = 6 cores
that's your prefrences amd or intel.

looking at your budget i would say go for msi tomahawk b350 or asus b350 gaming f.
and you can pick nzxt s340 a good case at half the price.
you can get ryzen 1600 in the same budget or lower

Second on the MSI Tomahawk B350 being a good choice.

It also depends on whether you're happy with M-ATX. Micro ATX will generally be cheaper, but limit your future expandability.
A good micro ATX motherboard can be the MSI B350M GAMING PRO which should be less than $70 I think (I'm in the UK, so not 100%).

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9BdbPs. What do you think of the edit. I want to try to save as much money as possible because I don't have time to work on the side of school so I need the money.
