You should go for 1x8Gb as it is more cheap and you can upgrade it later to 2x8gb.
And you should have a watercooling system installed to keep the Temp levels low.
And also include a HDD

A couple of things i would change:
1. Get a 970 from Asus, EVGA or MSI, those are generally more reliable and have better customer support.
2. is there no HDD?
3. The PSU you chose is actually overkill and stupid expensive, have a look at the EVGA 600B, great pSU
Other than that, get a standard CPU cooler like a Hyper 212, the 4790 tends to get really hot underload

No reason to get a Z97 board without an unlocked CPU (unless you plan on doing RAID or SLI/Crossfire).

For the PSU, you can probably get an EVGA 750B2 for less, and it's still a decent PSU.

For the graphics card, you'd be better served by an R9 390.

He could, but that would make getting an i7 4790 now absolutely pointless. When you plan to upgrade to an unlocked CPU, you do not get a 300$ CPU first.

Can I just get it air cooled?

the difference in performance is not tangible between single or dual channel, just in benchmark

If you're set on that processor you don't need anything beyond the stock cooler that's included. The only time you really need to upgrade the cooler is when you plan on overclocking (which this CPU can't do anyways.

Might be a silly question, by why do you need the i7? If you're using the machine as a gaming platform you could go with an i5 and save some money while having the same sort of good performance
