Hello all.

My computer is upstairs and my router/cable modem is downstairs

I also have powerline adapters going from downstairs to upstairs

My router is a Nighthawk 7000 (ac router)
My wireless adapter for my computer is a TP-LINK Archer T4U AC1200

Now, when I connect wirelessly using the 5 GHz network, I get my full speeds; 100 Mbps
BUT using it wirelessly, i get very bad packetloss in games

When I use my powerline adapters, i get a lot slow speeds, but no packetloss

It is very annoying having to constantly switch connections based on what I want

Is there a way to fix this packetloss for my wireless AC on the 5 GHz channel?

Thank you.

sounds like running CAT 5 cable is not an option.

So lets look at some numbers.
run the following command for about 5 minutes while connected to the WiFi and then again wile connected to the power line adapter.

ping www.google.com -t

press ctr+c to interrupt the ping and look for packet loss and speed statistics at the end.
post the results here

Wifi: sent: 506 received: 506 Lost: 0

powerline: sent: 510 recieved: 509 lost: 1

maybe it isnt packetloss? Something is causing the onlines games to basically freeze for a few seconds, and then speedup and catchup to the correct position

most likely performance issues.
use performance monitor (comes with windows) to check the CPU, disk and memory usage during gameplay.

use GPU-Z (http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/)
to check the GPU and VRAM usage.

post you computer specs (CPU, RAM, video card) here

well, lets try to find out your game's IP address, and run the ping test again.

you can run netstat -n during gameplay and look for open connections.
but there are usually easier ways to find the IP address of the game server. What game are you playing?
