It is very uncommon but if you suspect it, do a secure erase followed by a bios update, which should cure any problem other than something of incredible sophistication that is pretty unlikely for a home machine.I heard of reinstall the OS would be the best way, and do I need to worry if the rootkit infect my bios? Thanks
You cannot be sure to eliminate it once you are in the OS, so my go to tool is the free Kaspersky Rescue Disk 18. The other choice would be to do a secure erase and clean install. My Kaspersky detected rootkit in my system memory over a year, but it is never able to eliminated the rootkit. Anyway to clean it? Thanks!
