Yes. You clone the drive.
You can use Macrium or Aomei cloning apps or other ones. The two I mentioned have free versions.
Basically you are just making an exact copy of the drive.
Here's what I'd do. Keep your current drive as your C drive. Install the SSD (lets say it's the D Drive). Boot to C. Clone to D.
Then boot to D.....and get everything off C that you want. Then format C and use it as a backup drive.
