AOC e2450Swda trouble

So I recently bought a wii on the cheap and decided I would set it up on my computer monitor. I bought a DVI to HDMI lead with the hdmi extension for the wii but for some reason cant get any signal on my monitor. any ideas on what the problem could be? is there any settings I can change on my monitor.

Most Nintendo Wii owners connect it to their living-room TV like me I guess, but it will work with a monitor with a few tweaks:

Everything is set up correctly there is no problem with the upscaler or hdmi to dvi lead as have tested both out on a different screen and seems to work fine. Just seems to be my AOC screen and can't work out why.

As I said, mine's connected to a Sony TV which has ports for just about every type of in/out cable. Never tried to use a monitor.
