Hi everybody, I'll try to keep this short. I just got an AOC G2460PQU TN monitor, knowing full well that the colors on TN screens aren't usually all that great, but I've been using a laptop with a TN screen for a while now and never really noticed the colors. Now that I have this monitor though, I noticed gradients are really blocky and anything with slight variations between colors ends up getting broken into chunks of colors. I've calibrated it using the same settings used on this site, and am satisfied with they way it looks (I couldn't get it to look very good by myself, and trying to adjust Tom's settings to my liking wasn't working out) but the gradients are just awful. Any ideas of ways to try and alleviate this?

I won't say it's impossible, but I highly doubt it unless it came from the factory like that. I can't seem to find the option for it though, can you tell me where it is in windows 8?

No sharpness controls or anything like that. Tried resetting it, and it does help, but then the gamma is way off and colors look very washed out. Don't have any other computers I can connect it to.

Hi

I've just got the same monitor and kind of see what you mean...I know you're never going to get glorious colours from a TN panel but having tested the monitor on GTA5, the colours look really washed out (again, a trait of TN I understand) but seems quite a dip. I've moved from HDMI connection on a 24" TV (Linsar) and the colour production was quite a lot better I feel (again appreciate the TN constraints but still).

I did purchase mine as "Like New" from Amazon and wondered if there was a hidden issue with the monitor. However, to be fair it was virtually untouched and in original packaging etc. Give the above report, clearly this is not an isolated observation.

In terms of the 144Hz and G Sync benefits though - these are god sends even for non-hardcore gamer.

Just to update, I've reset the calibration settings and things do look look a lot better although perhaps a little one extreme to the other. I do prefer these settings more though - probably need to tweak from this point. GTA5 looks a lot better and getting used to the output now...

Well it's good to hear I'm not the only one. I have to say, I've gotten used to it by now. I still notice it, but it doesn't bother me as much. Only issue I have now is that the colors get reset to some really weird settings and I have to re-calibrate them using software every time I turn my PC on or launch certain games in full screen. Pretty sure that's not the fault of the monitor, but I never had the issue with my old monitor.
