I have an AOC 2460PQU monitor capable of getting 144Hz. Right now I'm playing games like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed Unity on maxed settings but with 60Hz. I have Nvidia GTX 1070 graphic card and i-7 6700 (non-K) processor. I'm thinking of buying a displayport cable and pushing the monitor to 144Hz. However, I'm not sure whether with my specifications it would be worth it and whether at the end I'll need to sacrifice the games' settings. I checked the videos at youtube for these games but did not got a decisive answer.

I meant 1080p 144Hz is just fine, don't need higher resolution. Infact 1440p is harder to achieve 144fps obviously. Was saying 1080p still looks good and you were selling it short.

Golden touch Displayport cables migjt be ok but there is a chance it wont handle 144Hz depending on quality.

Use an fps counter to determine the kind of fps you're getting with your current settings.

Not even a 1080Ti gets 144fps consistently in 1080p in various games but it is around 100fps most titles which is considerably better than 60Hz.

I run a 1440p 144Hz screen with a 1080Ti. I'll never go back to 60Hz. Not just games but desktop and browsing is far superior with 144Hz.

If you go for a DP cable go for an Accell brand to be sure of quality. There are plenty of uncertified DP cables out there not properly made.

Thanks, I don't know whether I'll find this Accell cable here in Israel. Another point is my monitor is only capable of pushing out 1080p. I think 144Hz is really worth it with higher resolutions...

Well, I suppose DP cable Golden Touch which can be found here will do the job as well

Well I ordered the cable you suggested. My concern is however that it wouldn't handle 144HZ. It went out it's model is 2460P (that's what's written on the monitor itself) Google shows that it's same as PQU, though I saw also here at forum people complaining that P model cannot handle 144Hz, even though it's supposed to...

Results searching this monitor regarding trouble with 144Hz is alarming. Aoc is usually pretty good.

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3ydarz/aoc_g2460pqu_not_144hz/

Because this monitor doesn't ship with a DP cable there are mixed results. Those who bought a DP cable and 144Hz didn't appear to look like 144Hz and others it was fine.

There are more negative comments about this monitor running at 144Hz than positive. Coincidence or product fault, won't know until you try it.

120Hz seems to be fine though. 120Hz is still a massive upgrade from 60Hz though incase you run into the same bad luck.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks, I certainly will do. I'm expecting to get a cable in a week or two so I'll check it. Probably I'll also check Dual link DVI cable which went with the monitor as I heard that it too can handle 144Hz (especially in my specific case)

Well, at the end it does work. Thank you so much for hinting me at this specific cable, so far the monitor is working ok with 144Hz refresh rate
