Question AOC U2879VF Compatible with nvidia card?

Hello. I have a 2 year old GTX 1070 in my computer, and i'm considering getting a 4k monitor. I saw a used AOC U2879VF monitor

But it says Freesync, and i'm pretty sure that is some amd stuff. Also i don't know if 4k is pulling down my pc in performance/fps. I already have a BenQ 2411 Gsync as main monitor, and thought i would use this as secondary.
So i guess my question is: Will my gfx card be able to run this monitor, and what are the downsides of not having an AMD gfx card in this situation?

Nvidia have announced at the beginning of this year that Freesync monitors will see support from Nvidia GPU's. The option is open for GTX1000 series and above.
