Aopen CDRW

Gettintg meself the Aopen CDRW @ 32x16x10x... been 2 the cdinfo.com website... there it has a firmware update to get the drive running @ 40x20x10x... would this be safe 2 use... has anybody tried this? did it work?? is it stable/reliable ???

Any assistance is grateful (I would rather not fry a new drive needlessly)... Thanx...

you mean 16x erite 10x rw and 32x read to 20x write 10xrw and 40x read?


If you haven't bought it yet, the 24x liteon is bout $30 more. I'd get that one.

Too late 4 that, I have already got the Aopen drive installed, just wanting 2 know if using that patch I got 4 it would B safe 2 use...

I always update the firmware. it should be safe, but if you have a power outage during the update you're screwed.

Wahey, I got it working... at least in the sys properties it calls it a 40x20x10 now... can I download any benchmarking SW to make sure (I have nero 5.5 but it has no benchmarking SW with it) ???
