[SOLVED] Aorus gtx 1080 cant play 144hz on dvi

I have this monitor Planar sa2311w 120hz on dvi, 60hz on hdmi and dsub. No dp ports

It was doing well with galax gtx 1080 but I really prefer Aorus, I can't seem to make it work.

Upon researching, I need bios update in order for dvi 120hz to work. I downloaded the bios update but I couldn't install it successfully, it says something about incompatible board

Monitor resfresh rate has nothing to do with BIOS. Are you sure you have a Dual Link DVI cable and not just a regular DVI cable?

Yep dual link dvi d. It has, it's been stated in the update details of their support/downloads for gtx 1080 aorus

Oh you mean the GPU BIOS. Wow that’s bad, you can literally kill a gpu with a failed BIOS update, they must be desperate to recommend that.

Yep. Apparently I couldn't update gpu bios successfully, it says something like incompatible with my board

A bios update isn’t gonna change your hardware. Either the hardware can push 120-144hz or it can’t.

It sure can...
My only problem now is that this update does not support rev 1.0 (it's for rev 2.0)

There is no VBIOS update for the AORUS GeForce® GTX 1080 Rev 1.0/1.1
