I am currently testing Apple Music for Android.
Since I have an Onkyo tx-nr686, Dolby Atmos reciever with enabled speakers, I naturally wanted to try Atmos sound on the reciever.
But using Chromecast via reciever or my NVIDIA Shield doesn't give me Atmos.

So my question is:
If I use a cable, I guess, it would have to be USB c to HDMI, would sound be recognized by the Onkyo as Dolby Atmos. Or is Dolby Atmos music different from "movie Dolby Atmos"?

Dolby Atmos needs to be supported by your Android device. You'll need to look up your device with your Android manufacturer to see if Atmos is supported and what connection(s) it's available on. You'll likely also want to check your Onkyo manual to see which inputs accept Atmos.
