[SOLVED] Apple macbook sound card and other

Hi,
I have cubase music software running via Yamaha audiogram 6 interface into apple macbook. Currently the cubase software will not recognise an external microphone but will take the midi signal. To get the external mic working I am told I need to remove the macbook sound card. Can any one direct me differently or if my advice is correct, how do you remove sound card?

I believe the sound card is part of the logic board, so you can't remove it.

Are they perhaps suggesting in System Preferences that you disable it so that the external mic is detected/used?
