Apple mini display port to vga/dvi

so i need a mini display port to vga or dvi adapter and after looking around i found apple has an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI and i was wondering if this a different mini display port to one found on my HD radeon 7970?

Are you sure you don't just need a 'Displayport", not a mini? The HD 7079's I've seen only have regular display ports, not mini's...

Exactly what cable ends are you trying to connect between the monitor and video card?

They should all be the same ones, but why an Apple one? It will probably be 2-3 times more than what a good quality other brand costs. If you mean one that they say is compatible with Apple computers, it will work fine on a Windows system also.
