Question Apple Music

I was never an Apple guy, but I think with Apple's music service you could upload a low rez music file and download it in a higher quality version. Do they still do this?
I have a lot of mp3s I ripped from albums and cassettes. Of course the bitrate was low and there was hiss and pops, so I'd love to be able to upload them and redownload a higher quality version.

that's not how it works.
if the source is low quality, all converted files are also going to be low quality.

usually in this sort of circumstance the sound would even be worse because the audible irregularities(pop, hiss, etc) and the missing sound bytes from the original low quality conversion would be even more pronounced.
