Did you research this? This is not the M1 chip. That benchmark is from the MacMini Transition Kit which has the A12z processor.

If you read the comments posted against the tweet to which you have linked, it has already been confirmed these are numbers from an A12Z SoC, not the M1. The M1 is slated to run at 3.2 GHz, not 2.5 GHz, so it's going to be substantially faster than what these numbers suggest.

As a so-called technology site, you should not be posting random tweets as if it was news or substantial information without first verifying the claims yourselves. Hopefully, you'll be getting your hands on actual M1 Macs to run your own benchmarks or is it too much to expect Tom's to be unbiased nowadays...

7508 multi core and 1498 single core are outstanding results. Remember these are the slowest Apple Silicon machines. Simply impressive power per watt results.

In all honesty, what does it matter? Apple will never sell that chip to others, and they will still lock down their systems as much as possible, more so now that they control the entire ecosystem. So yes its a great example for arm to point to about whats possible when others tweak the crap out of their design, but its also just so moot if you're not willing to play in Apples sandbox.

Even I felt this is not the best thing from Apple and there is a lot of room for improvement. The thing is we have seen so many good things in the recent past that the room for error is very less and Apple must know that people really have a lot of expectations out of the new Apple products.
