Application failed to initialize -- win xp how to fix

Laptop sits on kitchen bar. When wife turns on Microwave, 7 of 9 times it loses WiFi connection, and entire Internet access. My solution is to restart. Takes 3-5 mins with all software loads. (1) How2 restore WiFi and Internet IP without restart. (2) Should Microwave operation w/in 10 feet cause this disruption of WiFi services ? Running Win XP SP3 on Sony VAIO VGN-FS840/W with 1.5G of RAM yen2ken@yahoo.com
