I do not know what I did, or even if I did do it, but for some reason
I am unable to run certain exe files or self executable files. What
happens when I try to run the files I get

"This application has failed to start because the application
configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the appliction may fix the
problem."

I have searched Google to see if I could find a fix but nothing I have
found so far has remided my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Hi,

Did you attempt to reinstall the application or perform a repair
installation of the application.

The problem is that it is various applications that will not run. I
have downloaded self extracting files that I cound not run and also
some exe files will not run either. I have been able to get some of
them to install in safe mode but some programs will not install in
safe mode. I have had this problem before I installed SP2 so that is
not the problem. I have not been able to determine why certain files
will not run and why others will. I am sure it is probably a register
value I must edit but I have no clue.

Thanks
Mark

I have had the same problem and have been unable to find the cause. It is
not the application, and I have it working fine on another PC I have tried
all sorts of things, including reinstallation of the program (obviously).
There are two references in the knowledge base and some other web references
exist pointing to a problem with MSN messenger (apparently as a program that
fails) and MSXML 4.0. There is some discussion of "manifests" associated
with dll's.

If I find anything moreI will pass it on. I would appreciate it if you have
anything further since your post.

I have the same problem now, and I can't find anything helpful anywhere. I
am not going to reinstall all of the programs this problem pertains to,
that's just silly.
