Hello to all,

I am thinking about upgrading my PC. I planned a GTX 960,4GB graphics card - got one for free, long story.
Anyway, I got an old motherboard GA 970a D3. What is a good processor that I can buy for this motherboard, in terms of not only physically fitting the socket but also not causing problems with chipset, voltage etc. WIth older processor (FX 4170 quad core I believe i had problems with cpu overheating. HUGE problems.
Thanks in advance guys!

Given the uncooled 4+1 VRM setup I wouldn't put a 125w CPU on there. Infact if you look at the cpu support lists the 125w CPUs are not supported on rev 1, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. You need rev 1.4 or 3.0 but I still wouldn't suggest a 125w cpu with them to avoid possible VRM throttling. Stick with the 95w cpus like the 8320e and the 8370e, those are listed as supported on all revs.
