Hey guys! I have been converting the majority of my friends to the "PC Master-race", but I need a intro build for my friend around the price of 500$. No need for the included prices of the accessories such as mouse/keyboard, and we have also covered the OS!

All suggestions appreciated, Thanks!

Preference for Intel, AMD, Nvidia? I think most people on here will probably list Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU rigs since that is the consensus best combo. But, for a budget of $500, you might get more bang for your buck with an Intel CPU and AMD GPU or all AMD even.

Intel + Nvidia; replace these parts:

Total $482

The Intel + Nvidia rig is much less but that is because the GTX 750ti is much lower in performance and the CPUs are 8-core that can OC vs 2-core that can't OC. You can also replace the 280 with a 750ti in the AMD build and bring the price down closer to $500. Or, you can swap out the 750ti and get the 280 in the Intel + Nvidia build. Note: The XFX 280 has a lifetime warranty (United States).
