Apps stay minimized in windows 8.1

When I open app they flash full screen then stay on the toolbar. I'm new to 8.1 and other than this little hiccup,I like it.
The only way I know to fix it,is to restart my pc.

In general, Windows 8/8.1 doesn't close metro apps, so they stay there, You need to right click them and close. This doesn't go for the desktop programs.

I right clicked and closed it but that didnt resolve the issue.It still wont open.....

When You right click the app, You should close it, there's the close option, also in the upper-right corner. When You're in task manager, in basic mode, You should see only apps running on the background. When You double click them, or right click them and, there's "switch to" options. Does that work for You or not?

Now that Ive looked,the apps don't even show in task manager. So I guess they're not technically open to start with. I click the app (from the new window 8.1 start screen) and it flashes full screen,then the icon stays on the task bar,like it would if the app was open. When I click it again it does the same thing and never opens...
So far,the only way I know to fix it,is to restart my pc.
Extremely annoying....

Windows Mail,Netflix,Video,Music Pretty much anything I open. To answer your question... It's not isolated to 3rd party or windows apps.

Rumrunner24 I had the same problem as you with my apps flashing open and then minimizing.Here's what I did to correct the probleam. Open up task manager click more details app history on top bar double click on the app that wish to open and It should open normally. After that you should be able to open apps from desktop.
