APU based general system

I'm tossing together some ideas for a cheap APU based system for general computing and want to see what is thought about this build.

Now, this will be my general computing system, for all my daily tasks, email, facebook, forums, and anything else which I consider not worth doing on my main system.

Right now, I'm using a laptop for this, which I'm typing on. The issue is, I'm starting to have total power failures, and I don't think the ol'laptop has much longer.

So far I've put this together. I've tried to cut out most of the bs. The only places I really splurge are using a 6600k, instead of a 5600k, getting a mobo with 6gbs sata connections, and a Hybrid HDD. These are pretty much the least I'm willing to go for.

Anyway, take a look, and tell me what you think.

I'd suggest thinking strongly about a better PSU than the CX series. Corsair cheaped on the caps, so it will probably fail in a couple of years.

You may also want to consider simply going for a 128GB SSD - it's $10 cheaper than the SSHD and much faster: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct120m500ssd1

Kaveri comes out in days to weeks - consider waiting. You'll want an FM2+ board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-fm2a75mpro4

The ram is 2 bucks cheaper than the one I posted. 8GB is a must. I noticed the one you posted, I wasn't sure if it was a brand to be trusted. It's a good spot to save a few more bones.

I've had really good luck with Corsair PSU, but, I haven't used one for that long yet. Do you think such things would be an issue. I doubt this system would use more than 250w at load, if even. So I don't see it being stressed.

The only thing keeping me from SSD, is I'd like the space to keep movies and the such on the computer, I should of mentioned that. Now, if I added a HDD soon, than it would be a easy upgrade from SSD. It wouldn't be as easy to come back later and move from hybrid to ssd as a os drive. I'll see about it, I do love my current ssd.

Yea, the Kaveri were listed. The issue being, they started at 40 bucks over the listed CPU. I'll keep an eye out for it though. I'm not going to be making this right away.

Lol, No Microcenter... It sucks. I wasn't singed in, the build would most likely cost me about 25 or so more than the price listed.


*There's a $4 price difference between my listed ram, and Geil on Newegg. The ram will be question mark for now.

I'll most likely be adding a cheap aftermarket cooler also. Now, since I'd like to keep the case small, i'm thinking maybe Tx3 (assuming it fits the case), though, I'm not considering that in the current price range. Also, I'm not totally penny pinching, I'm just trying to keep it reasonable as a general use system, with good performance.

Why is 8GB a must? Most of that stuff would fit in 4GB fine, unless you have a stupid number of tabs open (like I do). I'd suggest spending a few extra bucks to get a board with four RAM slots, though.

Yea, considering it's integrated GPU, I think 8gb should be a min. Also, I like to run a lot of tabs. It's not worth the money saved, if I'll wish I had gone with 8gb. I also considered 6gb, but, the price difference is so small, it's just not worth it.

Yea, I'm not tied down to that mobo. I picked it because it was the cheapest mobo that supported 6gb/s Sata. I really would like to get one with heatsinks on the VRM.

Damn, I can already tell I'm going to blow this thing out of proportion in the end.
