APU crossfire w/ HD 6870

My current system uses a HD 6870. I have a need to update my motherboard. Because of this need, I am considering replacing the CPU and memory as well (currently socket 1366 i7-950 with 12GB of 1600MHz RAM - no overclocking).

Would using something like the A10-6800k crossfire well with the 6870 giving me a bump in graphics? Or, would the igpu just bottleneck or disable?

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Plus any links or sites with APU crossfire details would also be helpful.

It will only crossfire with low end cards, not HD6870! Just disable.
