aquireing IP address and could not find..

Hello,

I recently reinsatlled win xp pro on my pc and when i enabled my LAN conection it said aquireing IP address and could not find..

I moved residence and got a new cable modem and the problem resolved.

Just today i reinstalled win xp pro in my laptop and recived the same error using a DSl modem.

i was thinking of asking for a new dsl modem, but is there a way to fix this issue without a new modem

please advise

try running the network wizard.
If there was a computer hooked up to the dsl modem before this one you may need to cycle the power on the modem to accept the new computer.
