I'm looking to build arcade cabinet for my new residence. I built this PC almost 10 years ago and I'm wondering would these parts still be powerful enough to run arcade games up to the PS3?

Parts

CPU- i5-4690K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard-
MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM- G.Skill Ripjaws X 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 Memory

Video Card- MSI GAMING GeForce GTX 970 4 GB

Power Supply- Corsair AX860i 860 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX

Yeah up to PS2 it's ok even just with the iGPU, if you don't need scaling and filters and effects and such, ps3 it will be able to play some titles, just not the heavy ones.

Thank you for the info I have a few more questions. What ifbI updated the cpu to High end i7 chip will that be enough to put it over the top? Or will I have to upgrade the gpu as well and ram?(gtx 1080ti/titan and 16gb ram 2x8)

You need a pretty current monster CPU to even get 30FPS on games like red dead, haswel i7 isn't going to do much.

The more I think about it I dont need to emulate anything past the 7th gen. I can also put a console in the arcade cabinet and plug it into the monitor to play anything current.

Since you have the pc, why not try it first and see how you do?
Most older games are largely single threaded. Upgrading to i7 adds threads, but the performance of a single core is only a 10% boost.

Okay thanks for the info. I'm going to see if the PC still works first. Then test it for a little while as you suggested. The main purpose of the cabinet is for old school arcade games nothing really past 6th gen. Maybe the odd fighting games Street Fighter 6 but I'll just hooked the PS5 to the monitor and hide inside the cabinet. Thank you again everyone for the advice.
