Hello all,

I've got a TP Link Archer C9 wireless router, and have attached storage to the USB 3.0 port. I can access the storage via SMB no problem at all, in fact it works really well as I effectively use it as a media server for my Smart TV.

I would also like to be able to access my media across the Internet, which requires enabling the FTP server option. This also works reasonably well........for around ten minutes, after which all traffic stops and it becomes impossible to log into the server again. The only way to get back in is to go into the router admin page and change the FTP server password to something else - only then can I access the media again.

Has anyone else ever run into this issue with an Archer C9?

Thanks,

Ackoman

Thanks, seems like that router has been orphaned and hasn't gotten patches for 2 yrs.

Not sure if it's viable but maybe you should move to a supported firmware like dd-wrt or openWRT for better security.

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch.

It's hardware version 2, and the firmware is version 4.0.0 Build 20160315 Rel 34536

pls let us know the version of the router and firmware.

it sounds like your ftp server may be getting attacked after a few mins:

but that's just one guess without details.

Hi

You're right! I installed DD WRT last night and started a FTP session and it was still active this morning.

You've just saved me a ton of money as I was getting all geared up for going out and buying a new router.

Many thanks,
