I've read several places, including the Conroe OC sticky on this site, that recommends several cpu coolers. Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro is never on those lists. An oversight or somethign I should know about? Arctic Cooling's freezer 64 is mentioned, but not the 7 pro. I can't figure it out. I thought the freezer 64 was amd and 7 pro was core2duo, but the sticky on this site, for example, says freezer 64 for core2duo overclocking.

Since I've already ordered a Freezer 7 pro, I'd like to make sure its what I need/should use for mild overclockiing of an e6600.

thanks,

curt j.

You are correct, the AC Freezer 64 Pro is for AMD processors and I am unsure why it is listed in the C2D thread.

From what I have seen, the AC Freezer 7 Pro performs very very well for its price point. I paid $21.99 for mine and am running a D805 @ 4.00Ghz with very respectable temperatures.

When the fan is on 100% it has a sort of "whir" but with only the slightest drop in fan speed that goes away and is very quiet.

Review here

You will be happy with the cooler, I am very satisfied with mine.

you're right - the Freezer 7 Pro and the 64 Pro is the same excapt for the mounting. I'm using a 64 Pro on my X2 4000+ and it really performs quiete good. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
For some reason most ppl underestemiate this cooler coz they think that for that much money the cooler can't be good, but nontheless A/C wins most times the price/performance-ratio.

Would be nice to hear how well it's performing.

Its performing quite well for me. I hit 52 with dual primes running on my current overclock according to coretemp. The install was literally a snap. I may well buy a bigger cooler that i can stick a loud fan on (or two) , but this one has been all i expected, and then some.

Im using the Arctic pro 64 and I love it, im getting sub 40 idle temps.

Im thinking about throwing another fan on it. not sure yet though.
