Hello,

I have a few Arcting cooling fans (including the Cpu fan),
and they all connected to each other using their PST method.
and they are connected to the CPU PWM socket on the motherboard.
that way it control all the fans speed.

One of my fans (AF12025 PWM 120mm) started to make noise, so i purchased a new
fan of arcting cooling model : F12 PWM PST CO rev.2 .
When i wanted to connect my other fan (AF8025 PWM 80mm) to it i discovered that
the plugs don't fit to each other.
The F12 PWM PST CO rev.2 have a Male plug which is a little different,
making it impossible to connect the AF8025 PWM 80mm Female plug to it.

See the picture here:

How can it be? it's not something that is standard?
Do you think the fan came with the wrong Male 4 pin plug?

Thank you.

I just wanted to update that i received an answer from Arctic cooling support.
They confirmed that the New F12 PWM PST CO Rev2. that i purchased came with the wrong Male plug.
It was supposed to be like the Male plug of my old AF12025 PWM fan.
They offered to send a replacement, but i already went to the store where i bought it,
and they replaced it.

Thanks.

Hmm, interesting. Did they give you the SAME model fan (F12 PWM PST CO Rev.2) which had the correct connector then, or did they give you another model (like F12 PWM PST or F12 PWM PST CO Rev.1) ?

It is weird because on their website, a similar "NEW" (3-wire) connector that you have photographed is shown:
https://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/arctic-f12-pwm-co.html#techspecs

The plastic housing of the male connector is different, but it has only 3 wires leading to it (missing the red one). Do they have the wrong picture there and the actual connector is actually a 4-wire one like on the old AF12025 or did they actually change something on "F12 PWM PST CO Rev.2" (although I can't imagine what that 3-wire connector would be) ?

I noticed that they released the "Rev.2" edition of fans across all their fan series. With this change, they split the PWM family into 2 different families, PWM and PWM+PST. Old PWM fans all came with that split connector (male+female) so you could wire additional fans onto them. So basically old PWM fans all had PST function. Now with the new Rev.2 range of fans, the PWM model has only one 4-pin connector, so if you want to cascade fans you need to buy the PWM+PST model. For example the old model "F12 PWM" and the new model "F12 PWM Rev.2" have different connectors!

Most shops don't know about this and they have their listings all messed up with wrong images or omitted Rev.2. To be sure you are buying the old cheaper "F12 PWM" with PST you have to look at the Item Number (AFACO-120P0-GBA01). The new "F12 PWM Rev.2" without PST has Item Number AFACO-120P2-GBA01.
