There are always risks and trade-offs.
If I had headphones that work and sound really well to me then I would ignore a bit of stiffness and squeak in the hinge.
Or at least try a bit of lubrication via a pencil or graphite.
Otherwise fill out the warranty card, go online, or otherwise do what is needed to establish warranty.
If a hinge breaks then make a warranty claim.
Document everything and keep copies.
