I bought a 60hz monitor late last year and was thinking should I have gone and bought a 120hz monitor?

If you have an nvidia card, shadowplay has an FPS overlay that works as well and is a bit smaller than the others.

You would get some good frames. That's a great CPU for gaming.

If you have the GPU/CPU power, yes. Your would get information faster and the game will feel smoother.
