I've been looking at 2 in 1s with a budget of around £250. The more I look the ones I see tend to be 2gb ram an Atom CPU and a 1280 x 800 res screen. I am wondering are these 2 in 1s a gimmick and if atom cpu paired with 2gb can run windows 10 well enough or would I be able to get a better quality tablet for the same money and get a third party keyboard separately?

These are the 2 in 1s I've seen don't know if they are any good. The Acer has a 1920 x 1200 screen.

A family member wants it for movies when on holiday but use the keyboard to type letters and emails at home.
I think its either going to be the Acer due to it having the highest res screeen of the 2 in 1s or this Samsung Android Tablet http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/samsung-galaxy-tab-a-10-1-tablet-16-gb-black-10148587-pdt.html

Would it be possible to use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with this Samsung tablet would have preferred a dock style keyboard but the connector for docks is in the portrait position so not ideal. Which is better out this Acer then http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-switch-10-v-10-1-2-in-1-silver-10137572-pdt.html and the Samsung?

For a device like that, the only real way to know is to put hands on.
Is it too small to type on? Too large to carry around? Does your thumb overhang the touchpad when typing?
How's the battery life? (The Asus Transformer battery life is insane)

On a 10" screen, 'highest resolution' may not make a difference.

"Better" is purely subjective.

Android most certainly has the better app store though for those mobile games to pass the time while waiting around the only lacking feature is a keyboard would the Samsung work with a bluetooth kb? How do you find the screen quality for the Asus have you tried watching stuff on it?

Unknown about the Samsung with a bt keyboard.
Watching movies on the Asus is fine. I've watched many youtube vids or Netflix movies on it.
Obviously it's not a 4k 55" quality. But for what it is, it's fine.

1) That's utter nonsense, since a PC will have >100X the number of games, even "app" style games
2) If you want android games, you can simply use bluestacks on any Windows computer

Seriously, check out https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/devices/surface-3 , it's the single best 10" tablet out there, with touch, pen, and keyboard inputs, much more disk space, and flat out amazing display. Price wise it's not that much different, and actually cheaper than devices like the galaxy tab and ipad

In my case, a $500 Surface vs a $180 Asus Transformer made the Surface a non-starter.
If it were to be more of a primary device, the choice might have been different.
