I want to buy an aftermarket DSL modem for my Windstream internet. I have been trying to do research to find out if there is any difference in the modem side of gateways.
It seems all the manufactures talk about is the wireless router side of the gateway. All anyone mentions about the modem side is they are compatible with adsl2, adsl2+, VDSL, etc

Are there any differences between modems besides adsl2+, vdsl etc?
I want to buy the best modem I can find, Im not so conerned about the wifi router side of it. I already have a good linksys router.

These are the three I have been looking at in Bestbuy.
Any clarification or recommendations would be appreciated.

Solution
Primarily, look to what is on your ISP recommended list.
The 'modem' and wired side is pretty much zero difference between models.

10/100/100 is 10/100/1000.
