Are all Midi-USB interface adapters created equal?

I want to use my Yamaha DX27 keyboard as a midi input device in conjunction with Reaper software on my Windows 7 desktop. Since the desktop does not have a midi card I want to use USB, but have a suspicion that the chances of getting a Midi-USB interface to work first time are pretty remote, so wanted to know if anyone with experience of this can offer advice before I purchase the interface.

I've been looking at this item on eBay, and was wondering whether anyone had any views on whether this would be likely to work for me, or whether I should be looking at a different type of interface with specific features or specification?

When I first started recording music I got something like that to connect my keyboard to the PC and it was TERRIBLE. The latency was so high between when you play a key and when the computer recognizes the input that it becomes unusable.

This is a much better solution, and is a great Midi-USB interface to start with:

I've used this exact model with Reaper and it picks up the 2i2 driver right away, this is about as plug-and-play as you can get.

The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is not a midi interface. It's for audio.

That's also an audio interface. I'm just looking for a midi-to-USB adapter (which will hopefully not fall into the £80+ price bracket!)

FYI I already have an audio interface which works fine - it's just midi input that I'm lacking

Thanks. A little pricier than the one on eBay! As I have no income at the moment I was hoping to find a budget option that did the trick on a Windows 7 (x64) platform.
Am I being unrealistic, or will I have to shell out £30+ for something that will work reliably?
