Are all sata cables compatible?

I was wanting to upgrade from my HDD to an SSD and the SSD i'm looking at is sata 3. I'm not sure if sata 1/2/3 cables are compatible. So i guess me question is will a sata 1 or 2 cable work with a sata 3 drive?

Sata cable is sata cable.

I think SATA3 cable have the metal clip in bracket while SATA 1 & 2 do not.
As long as you have SATA2 cables it makes no difference.
