300$ gets you an I5 system only 500Gb hdd mind you it would not be a bad system to do what you need to do, and possible to use the 100 later and upgrade a low profile video card and use it for gaming.

Have not used AMD so I can't really say how well most of those desktops will work, but considering Powerpoint is not a very resource intensive program any of them should so. If you are okay with used products I would recommend a HP Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF.

On ebay they are going pretty cheaply for $250 -$350. I recommend getting one with at least a 8GB of RAM and an I5.

Of course I would recommend shopping around on Ebay and not just looking at the provided link, as there may be a better deal or a configuration that better suits your needs. Plus other forum users will have suggestions that you will want to take into account.

HP or Dell, simply because I dislike the other 'brands'.
Anything under $500, performance will be identical.

iBuyPower or CyberpowerPC are going to have the cheapest, low quality power supplies they could find. For the AMD builds, they are trying to unload 6 year old technologies (FX 4300 or 6300). For powerpoint, office, general internet browsing, you don't need much processing power, but I don't see anything in the Walmart link I would buy. (One even has Windows 7 Home Premium, which is nearing the end of extended support by Microsoft).

If all you want to do is powerpoint on the computer, you can get away with buying something like this even.

any desktop you buy would be sufficient, though performance wise anyone would tell you to look for a core i5 processor on the desktop you purchase since your budget is 400$.
