Are BIOS updates stored on motherboard or a storage device?

I'm looking at an H170 mobo from a seller on LetGo; he's told me that the board (while in his possession) has been updated to support Kaby Lake.

My question is: if the board has been updated to support Kaby Lake, is that BIOS update stored on the motherboard, or is it linked to a specific storage device.

If I purchase the board from this guy, will I be able to run my I7-7700 right away since he has already updated the BIOS, or will I need to take it upon myself to switch out the CPU for a cheap Sky Lake and update them once more on my own storage device?

Solution
The BIOS chip stores the actual update. It is not stored on a hardrive. If this guy claims to have updated the BIOS to support Kaby Lake processors then you’ll be good to run your 7700 right away.
